LINCOLNVILLE — Maine Coast Men will welcome all area men for its biannual weekend retreat from Friday night to Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14-16, at Tanglewood 4-H Camp. The program is coordinated, led and supported entirely by participants.

The theme of the weekend, “Simplicity,” is an invitation “to consider simplifying your life — define it, understand it, decide if you want to make the effort, make a plan,” according to a press release announcing the event.

The group has worked with Tanglewood staff to develop procedures and safet measures to keep participants safe.

COVID tests will be distributed near the parking lot upon arrival. After a negative result, attendees may proceed to the main lodge. Only those who have preregistered may attend. Appropriate masks are strongly encouraged inside, with social distancing outside. Some will be sleeping in campers, cars, tents and hammocks to decrease the density in the cabins. Food will be handled safely.

The weekend requires vaccination status of two shots and booster or the J&J one shot and booster. No proof is required. A signature is required.

Meals are planned and prepared by a volunteer crew. Everyone contributes by cooking, washing dishes, moving firewood and tending wood stoves. Saturday workshops are put on by participants on a variety of topics.

Saturday night will feature a variety show, where men who want to “can show off what they know, or maybe have fun with what they don’t.”

Cost is $100, and support can be arranged for those who have special needs. Advance registration is required; for more information and to download a registration form, visit mainecoastmen.net. To talk with the registrar, call Tomas at 505-1283.
