Knox County saw 11 additional COVID-19 cases since Saturday, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 7,385 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 109 have been admitted to hospitals, and 44 have died.

Statewide, an additional 465 cases were reported since Saturday. There were two additional deaths reported statewide Sept. 27, increasing the number to 2,575.

There were eight additional people statewide admitted to a hospital in Maine with COVID-19 since Saturday, with the number at 5,770 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 164 Mainers currently in the hospital with the virus. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 164 hospitalized, 32 are in critical care units and eight on ventilators. Fifty-seven critical care beds are available in Maine. The number of hospitalizations, patients admitted to critical car beds, and those on ventilators have increased over the past week.
