CAMDEN — Rep. Vicki Doudera presented a framed legislative sentiment from herself and Sen. Dave Miramant Sept. 21, marking the 175th anniversary of the Camden Fire Department. “It’s an honor to recognize this milestone,” she said to the men, who had just finished a hiker rescue training in Camden Hills State Park. “As residents of Camden, Dave and I see every day the hard work you do to protect our town and the surrounding Midcoast area.”

She noted the department’s humble beginnings as Hydrant Fire Company 1, with limited equipment, to today’s roles as first responders during emergencies, educating neighbors about fire safety, and collaborating with the code enforcement department.

“The Camden Fire Department has long been, and continues to be, a pillar of our community, and we thank you.”

Chief Chris Farley, Assistant Chief Andrew Lowe, and Captain Earle Holt accepted the sentiment on behalf of the department.
