SPRUCE HEAD — The Craignair Gallery, 5 3rd St., presents an exhibition of fine art by Pam Cabañas opening Sept. 28 and closing Oct. 25.

Known primarily as an innovative painter of the Maine shores, Cabañas’ work has been shown in private galleries and non-profits throughout Midcoast Maine, recently receiving a grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation. Cabañas holds a BFA in painting and hand lithography from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and an MA in art education from the University of New Mexico. She has taught art and photography at the high school through university levels both in New Mexico and New York. As an entrepreneur, Cabanas Decorative Arts designed and executed murals and faux finishes for architects and designers throughout the New York Area for 20 years.

Cabañas, who lives in Friendship, continues to paint both en plein air, travelling to coastal island locations in her skiff, as well as her much larger studio work inspired by her deep involvement in the history and nature of her coastal community. Recently, Cabañas travelled back in time to her days involved in the ceramic arts using sgraffito techniques on porcelain to create works emblematic of the Maine coast.

The Craignair Gallery is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, visit craignair.com or email innkeeper@craignair.com.
