ROCKLAND — A new book club will begin at the Rockland Public Library. All fourth to eighth grade students are invited to join. The first meeting will have popcorn to munch on while students take turns talking about a great book they have recently read.

In the future, our club will revolve around the Maine Student Book Award (MSBA) list: https://sites.google.com/view/mainestudentbookaward/home. A new MSBA list comes out every April, with some of the best books from the previous year. Each March, every student gets a chance to vote on their favorite book on the list.

In April 2022, Maine students named “Primer” by Jennifer Muro the best book of the year.

Starting in October, kids can choose any book off the MSBA list to read each month.

Miss Katie has been reading the MSBA list for the past 7 years and co-led the Camden Library MSBA club for 4 years. Miss Katie is an avid reader of middle grade books and can’t wait to chat with everyone.

The first few meetings will be scheduled at 1 p.m. on early release days.

RSVP with Miss Katie at kdrago@rocklandmaine.gov if you are interested in attending this meeting or one in the future. Facebook event link: https://fb.me/e/1ZXYVixbW
