LINCOLNVILLE — Select Board members and Town Administrator David Kinney have set Nov. 8 as the day for a special town meeting to vote on amendments to the town charter.

The proposed amendments would render the document gender neutral.

If approved, the charter would drop terms like Board of Selectmen and Selectman in favor of Select Board and Selectperson. The proposed amendments also include dropping the pronouns his and her in favor of more gender-neutral language.

The Nov. 8 vote will be held at Lincolnville Central School with polls opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m.

The proposed charter amendments can be found on the Town of Lincolnville website.
