Knox County saw eight additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, Sept. 9.
And for the third consecutive day, another Knox County resident was admitted to a hospital with the virus.
Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 7,303 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 105 have been admitted to hospitals, and 42 have died.
Statewide, an additional 275 cases were reported during the past day. There were four additional deaths reported statewide Sept. 9, increasing the number to 2,538.
There were nine additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,654 since the pandemic began in March 2020.
The CDC reports 173 Mainers currently in the hospital with the virus, up from 155 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 173 hospitalized, 18 are in critical care units and two on ventilators. Sixty-three critical care beds are available in Maine.
