Knox County saw 18 additional COVID-19 cases since Saturday, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday, Sept. 7.

And an additional Knox County resident was admitted to a hospital.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 7,283 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 103 have been admitted to hospitals, and 41 have died.

Statewide, an additional 445 cases were reported since Saturday. There were 11 additional deaths reported statewide Sept. 7, increasing the number to 2,524.

There were 29 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 since Saturday, with the number at 5,636 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 174 Mainers currently in the hospital with the virus, up from 155 last week and the highest number since June 2 when 193 people were hospitalized with the virus. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 174 hospitalized, 22 are in critical care units and three on ventilators. Sixty critical care beds are available in Maine.
