ROCKPORT — Bestselling author Lily King presents an author talk followed by a book signing Friday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St. Admission is free and advance registration is recommended.

“A master psychological portraitist” (Publishers Weekly) who is “firmly in the top rank of our most accomplished novelists” (Andre Dubus III, author of “House of Sand and Fog”), King brings her deft and graceful characterization to stories that illuminate the inner workings of life’s most complicated relationships. With “Writers & Lovers” and “Euphoria,” her books catapulted onto bestseller and best-of-the-year lists across the country and established her as one of the most “brilliant” (New York Times Book Review) and “wildly talented” (Chicago Tribune) authors in contemporary fiction.

“An Evening with Lily King” is sponsored by the Rockport Library Foundation and made possible by the generosity of the many foundation donors who participated in last year’s programming campaign. Having successfully raised the necessary funds to support the building of the library, the foundation has now turned its attention to providing programming and activities beyond what the library would be able to provide on its own. King is the second speaker in a planned series, bringing interesting and insightful speakers to the Rockport community.

Barnswallow Books of Rockport will be on hand with King’s books to sell for the book signing.
