ROCKPORT — A motorcyclist was injured Saturday morning in a crash with a sports utility vehicle on Route 1 in Rockport.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Sept. 3 near the Rockland line with Rockport.

A 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe was being operated by Cecelia Dove, 66, of Harrisburg, Penn. and traveling north on Route 1. Dove was making a right turn when a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Willis Knowles, 51 of Owls Head, attempted to pass Dove’s vehicle on the right. The motorcycle struck the right front of Dove’s vehicle and Knowles was ejected from the motorcycle. Dove was not injured and Knowles was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport by North East Mobile Health Services with non-life threatening injuries.

Commercial Street was down to one lane for approximately an hour due to this crash and both vehicles were removed from the scene by Camden Exxon. The crash remains under investigation by Rockport Police Sgt. James Moore.

LifeFlight of Maine was called to take the crash victim to a trauma center but that request was later canceled.
