THOMASTON — Advance registration is now open for Down East Singers, which will begin fall semester rehearsals Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 6:45 p.m. at Watts Hall, 174 Main St. Rehearsals will continue Tuesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. through Dec. 6. The ensemble will prepare “Noël Français,” a program of French-Canadian and European French holiday music in collaboration with the folk ensemble Ti-Acadie.

Performances will be on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Camden Amphitheatre, cosponsored by the Camden Public Library; Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at Watts Hall in Thomaston; and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at Rockport Opera House. In case of rain, the Oct. 16 concert will be held Oct. 23. Performances will be videotaped for later broadcast on Down East Singers’ YouTube channel.

Anthony Antolini of Cushing, the group’s artistic director, has conducted the ensemble since 1991. Jennifer McIvor of Wiscasset is the assistant director and accompanist.

Down East Singers is open to all community members, and new singers are welcome. Sight-reading skills are desired but not required, as long as an ability to match pitch is demonstrated. All singers are expected to work on their music at home between rehearsals. The membership fee is $75, payable either through the website or by mail. High school students sing for free. Music for the semester will be provided at the first rehearsal. Evidence of vaccination will be required for all members, and N95 or KN95 masks must be worn at rehearsals.
