ROCKLAND — Three people were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon following a head-on crash on Old County Road.

Sgt. Andrew Redden responded shortly before 2:30 p.m. Aug. 27 to Old County Road south of Thompson Meadow Road for a head-on motor vehicle crash.

Michael Hansen, 49, of Warren, was driving a silver 2003 Volkswagen Jetta south on Old County Road. The Jetta went off the right side of the road and into the dirt, before re-correcting the vehicle back on the pavement.  Hansen’s vehicle then crossed over the center line and head-on into a 2017 silver Chevy Volt driving north on Old County Road.

The driver of the Chevy Volt was David Erb, 59, of Readfield.  Erb and his passenger were taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for injuries.

Hansen was taken to Pen Bay for his injuries. Both vehicles were destroyed in the crash.

Criminal charges are pending and this case remains under investigation, Rockland police said.

Rockland Public Services removed debris from the road.
