OWLS HEAD — Two people are seeking to represent Owls Head on the Regional School Unit 13 board.

Incumbent Maria Devery, who was appointed by the Owls Head Select Board in November to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Susan Allen Thomas, announced at the Monday, Aug. 15 select board meeting she would seek to be elected and remain on the RSU 13 board.

The town has one member on the 10-member board.

Also at the Aug. 15 meeting, Sarah Post announced she was going to seek the seat.

Post works at an engineering firm and has lived in Owls Head for 22 years. She has a 15-year-old son who has gone through the RSU 13 schools. She said she has worked closely with local educational groups.

Devery told select board members she wanted to continue to serve on the RSU 13 Board. Devery said she has not seen Post at a school board meeting since Devery has been on the board.

Elections in Owls Head are done at the annual town meeting with nominations made from those in attendance. No nomination papers are required.

The Owls Head town meeting begins at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 at the town office.
