THOMASTON — Portland’s Maine Children’s Theater is coming to Midcoast Maine. Watts Hall Community Arts is pleased to present MCT’s traveling production of “Blueberries for Sal: The Musical” at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Watts Hall, 174 Main St. This heartwarming Maine classic offers parents and grandparents a wonderful opportunity to introduce children ages 3 to 10 to live theater right in their own backyard.

Based on the iconic 1948 book by Robert McCloskey, this family show is adapted for the stage by Michael J. Bobbitt and Sandra B. Eskin, with music and lyrics by William Yanesh. The audience will enjoy the antics of Sal and her blueberry picking mother and a blueberry foraging mother bear and her cub. When the little ones accidentally swap mothers, will each mother go home with the right one? After a caper of mixed-up reunions between mothers and babies, this blueberry tale ends with everything put aright.

Tickets for this solo performance of “Blueberries for Sal” are $15 for adults and $5 for kids on the Watts Hall website at wattshallthomaston.com; at Flaura, 185 Main St. (cash only); and at the door. For questions regarding the performance or for group rates, email wattshallcommunityarts@gmail.com. Seating is by general admission with the doors opening at 3:30 p.m.
