Knox County saw 13 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 7,078 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 98 have been admitted to hospitals, and 41 have died.

Testing at the Rockland Wastewater Treatment Facility on Aug. 4 showed a small spike in the virus in wastewater samples during the week.

Statewide, an additional 166 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide Aug. 10, keeping the number at 2,493.

There were three additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,419 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 139 Mainers currently in the hospital with the virus. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 139 hospitalized, 19 are in critical care units and two on ventilators. Sixty-one care beds are available in Maine.
