Gitlin presented on the Boston Red Sox in a previous talk for the library, and follows with an affectionate ranking of the diverse world of TV situation comedies, including “I Love Lucy,” “Mary Tyler Moore,” “All in the Family,” “Cheers,” “Andy Griffith,” “Seinfeld,” “The Big Bang Theory” and others. It will include hilarious snippets of familiar shows as well as a historical survey of the beloved genre. He will describe how sitcoms have evolved over the decades and impart trivia and other information about the greatest shows. He always involves the audience with engaging trivia questions that test and expand knowledge.
