ROCKPORT — Absentee ballots are available for the Rockport Special Municipal Election scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 30, to fill an unexpired term on the Select Board.

The last date to get an absentee ballot will be at the close of the business day on Thursday, Aug. 25. All absentee ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election day, Aug. 30.

The Select Board voted June 27 to hold the special election.

Dana Jackson, Denise Munger and Ralph Wallace returned their nomination papers and are on the ballot.

The vacancy was held by John Strand who resigned and, currently, the board is working with four members. The term is for the remaining two years of Strand’s term.

The polls will be open at the Town Office from noon-8 p.m. Aug. 30.
