ROCKLAND — The 75th Maine Lobster Festival opens Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Harbor Park, with many new changes including free admission every day.

Wednesday, Aug. 3 the festival opens at noon and closes with the coronation of the 2022 Maine Sea Goddess and fireworks.

The Maine Sea Goddess Coronation will take place at 6:30 p.m. on the Main Stage, followed by musical entertainment and fireworks over Rockland Harbor at 9:30 p.m. The Festival says the best view of fireworks will be at Harbor Park.

Each day the food tent will be open, serving fresh hot Maine Lobster dishes including lobster dinners, lobster mac and cheese and lobster bisque, as well as other items and drinks and dessert.

This year, the Festival has added a Beer Tent next to the main stage where beer, seltzer, cider and wine will be served all day by Tap Truck 207.

The Steins & Vines Tasting Event will take place Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. This event gives visitors the opportunity to taste Maine-made wine, beer and spirits from Maine brewers and vintners. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online. All participants must be 21 or older.

The Pirates of the Dark Rose return to teach Festival visitors all about life as a pirate. There will be weapons demonstrations, cannon fire, pirate ship tours, and more. View the schedule for details.

The Children’s Tent has expanded and will be offering activities for kids throughout the Festival. There will also be a petting zoo, playsets, bounce houses, water balls, games and more.

Live music will be a feature every day at the Festival, with genres spanning rock, blues, jazz, country, swing, funk, dance music, and two tribute bands showcasing legendary tunes.

The Big Parade on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. on Main Street in Rockland will feature local high school sports teams and local businesses, Maine Cabin Masters, Pat Patriot, local lobstering legend Virginia Oliver, and so much more. The Maine Cabin Masters and Pat Patriot will be on the Festival grounds after the parade.

Saturday night there will once again be fireworks over Rockland Harbor at 9:30 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 7 the 10k Road Race and 5k Walk/Run return, with events beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the “International Great Crate Race” at 2 p.m.
