Knox County saw 16 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, July 29.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,973 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 96 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

Statewide an additional 324 cases were reported during the past day. There were two additional deaths reported statewide July 29, increasing the number to 2,467.

There were two additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,334 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 118 Mainers currently in the hospital, down from 144 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 118 hospitalized, 13 are in critical care units and none on a ventilator. Sixty-five critical care beds are available in Maine.
