Knox County saw 12 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday, July 28.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,957 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 96 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died. The state deleted one hospitalization from the Knox County list.

Statewide an additional 244 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide July 28, keeping the number at 2,465.

There were five additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,334 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 125 Mainers currently in the hospital, down from 144 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 125 hospitalized, 16 are in critical care units and none on a ventilator. Sixty-three critical care beds are available in Maine.
