Knox County saw 11 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, July 22.

And an additional Knox County resident was admitted to a hospital with the virus during the past day.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,917 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 96 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

Statewide an additional 270 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide July 22, keeping the number at 2,464. There have been no deaths reported statewide this week.

There were 10 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,300 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 140 Mainers currently in the hospital, up from 119 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 140 hospitalized, 22 are in critical care units and none on a ventilator. Forty-six critical care beds are available in Maine.
