ST. GEORGE — The St. George Business Alliance announces it has selected Liam O’Neal of Tenants Harbor, a graduating senior from Camden Hills Regional High School, as the organization’s $1,000 scholarship recipient for 2022.

SGBA’s Scholarship Selection Committee chose Liam for the 2022 award based on his strong academic record, his student leadership and commitment to community service, as well as his determination to set and achieve his goals. He plans to attend the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut in the fall to study health science and play Division II baseball for the Purple Knights.

“In high school, I became fascinated with strength training and how I could train in a sports-specific way to reach my goals,” O’Neal said.

After earning his college degree, he hopes to become an athletic trainer and coach, helping others achieve their own health, wellness, athletic and physical fitness goals.

“I have witnessed his steady growth and dependability as an individual, a citizen and a teammate,” one of Liam’s teachers said. “Liam’s level of self-advocacy, personal responsibility, self-knowledge and the ability to know when and how to ask for help will allow him to have a successful next step after high school.” Liam is planning for his post-secondary future and, added his teacher, “I know he will deliver on your investment in him to the best of his ability.”

The SGBA is a local non-profit trade association of businesses, individuals, civic and non-profit organizations whose mission is to promote business and cultural prosperity in St. George. As part of this mission, the SGBA strives to help students receive the education needed to pursue their chosen careers. This is the fifth year the organization has provided a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior from St. George.
