Merryspring Nature Center will offer two special programs during the month of August

Friday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m., Merryspring will host Wildlife Detectives as part of its Free Family Fridays series.

In this program, children and their families will use their detective skills to look for clues hidden in bones and furs. The program, which is outdoors, is an introduction to the native mammals of Maine and their unique adaptations. In the event of heavy rain, this program will be canceled. Free Family Fridays will take place at Merryspring on select July and August Fridays at 10 a.m.

Preregistration is necessary for this event, with limited space available. Guests may sign up by contacting Merryspring at 207-236-2239 or info@merryspring.org. Admission is free to all. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wednesday, Aug. 10, Merryspring will be holding a special “Party in the Park” to raise funds for general upkeep of the 66-acre Nature Center. This first-ever “Party in the Park” will feature live musicians, food trucks, a cornhole tournament, lawn games, a raffle, outdoor art unveiling, and lovely gardens. Admission entitles each adult to two free adult beverages provided by RAYR. Merryspring’s Party in the Park will start at 4 p.m. and go until 7:30 p.m. In case of rain, the party will take place at the same time on Thursday, Aug. 11. Tickets go on sale starting Friday, July 15 at merryspring.org.

Tickets for the Party are limited and must be purchased in advance. The cost is $30 for Merryspring members and $35 for non-members. Children 12 and under are free.
