ROCKLAND — The Rockland area school district has hired a new business manager.

Peter “Max” Black will be the new business manager for Regional School Unit 13, the district announced Monday, July 18.

With more than 20 year of business management experience across a variety of industries, Black brings keen insight and experience to improve operational efficiencies, fiscal health and system productivity, the district stated in the news release.

Since moving to Maine in 2012, Black continued to grow as a business systems leader taking on roles in the private and non-profit sectors to advance operational and financial performance of businesses in tech and healthcare.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a master’s degree in organizational management from New England College in Henniker, N.H. He lives in the Midcoast with his wife, two school aged children and their big red dog, Hobbes. An avid hiker and skier, Black can be found on the peaks throughout New England year-round, the district stated.

His first day on the job will be Aug. 8.
