Knox County saw 21 additional COVID-19 cases since Saturday, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Tuesday, July 12.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,860 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

There have been no additional hospitalizations or deaths involving Knox County residents in nearly six weeks.

Statewide an additional 504 cases were reported since Saturday. There was one additional death reported statewide July 12, increasing the number to 2,462.

There were 12 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 since Saturday, with the number at 5,230 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 119 Mainers currently in the hospital. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 119 hospitalized, 24 are in critical care units and three on ventilators. Seventy critical care beds are available in Maine.
