Knox County saw 10 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Saturday, July 9.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,839 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

There have been no additional hospitalizations or deaths involving Knox County residents in five weeks.

Statewide an additional 202 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide July 9, keeping the number at 2,461.

There were eight additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,218 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 114 Mainers currently in the hospital. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 114 hospitalized, 24 are in critical care units and four on ventilators. Seventy-six critical care beds are available in Maine.
