CAMDEN — Gardener Denise DeSpirito will give a tour of the herb garden at Merryspring Nature Center Tuesday, July 26 at noon.

Planted in the early 1980s, the Herb Garden was the first planned garden at Merryspring Nature Center, and it showcases over 100 useful herbs for cooking, dyeing, medicine, and more. In this annual tradition, Merryspring Garden Manager and herbalist Denise DeSpirito will lead a tour of the Herb Garden and speak about some of its unique plants, new additions to the garden, and recent restoration efforts.

DeSpirito is a gardener and herbalist. She has grown herbs all over the Northeast, including Avena Botanicals in Rockport, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in New York, and Farmacy Herbs in Rhode Island. She currently serves as garden manager at Merryspring.

This talk is part of Merryspring’s Outdoor Summer Talk series. Talks are held in the Hexagon at Merryspring. The cost of this program is $5 for the general public, with a free admission for Merryspring members. No preregistration is necessary for this event.
