Knox County saw 13 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, July 8.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,829 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

There have been no additional hospitalizations or deaths involving Knox County residents in five weeks.

Statewide an additional 245 cases were reported during the past day. There were eight additional deaths reported statewide July 8, increasing the number to 2,461.

There were 14 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,210 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 125 Mainers currently in the hospital, up from 115 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 125 hospitalized, 25 are in critical care units and four on ventilators. Sixty-two critical care beds are available in Maine.
