ST. GEORGE — Michael E. Wiley, 41, of St. George, passed away unexpectedly July 5, 2022, in New Bedford, Mass., after a long struggle with drug addiction.

Mike was born Dec. 27, 1980, at the Naval Submarine Base Medical Center in Groton, Conn., to Angela Escorsio of St. George.

He attended and graduated from local schools. He loved the ocean and fishing and was employed as a commercial fisherman from a very young age and worked on many F/V’s in Maine and Massachusetts.

Mike was predeceased by his grandfather, Wendall “Talkie” Curtis Sr., and his grandmother, Sylvia Wiley Curtis, who raised him in St. George. He is survived by his young daughter, lzabella; his mother, Angela; sister, Crystal, and her family; several aunts; and an uncle, along with their families. Mike was especially close to his aunts, Wendy Curtis, Michelle Ramsdell and his uncle, Wendall “Tonka” Curtis Jr.

There will be no funeral. Arrangements for Mike are being made by Casper Funeral & Cremation Services of Boston, Mass., and his ashes will be scattered at sea off the St. George coast.

A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at the Black Harpoon in Port Clyde at a future date this summer.
