ROCKPORT — Bay Chamber presents its 62nd season of world class concerts from Aug. 4 through 21. The summer concert series begins Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St., with renowned pianist and 2022 Andrew Wolf Award winner Michelle Cann, joined by the Aeolus String Quartet. Cann, making her first appearance on the series, is described as “a compelling, sparkling virtuoso” by Boston Music Intgelligencer.

On Thursday and Friday, Aug. 11 and 12, Bay Chamber welcomes back Geoff Nuttall in collaboration with Livia Sohn, Joshua Roman, Lizzie Burns, Benjamin Beilman, and harpsichordist Pedja Muzijevic, as they present music by Rossini and Vivaldi’s iconic “Four Seasons” as part of Bay Chamber’s popular Candlelit Baroque concert.

The highlight of Bay Chamber’s summer series, the five-day Screen Door Festival, begins Wednesday, Aug. 17, and features more than 30 celebrated musicians performing 20 concerts. The series, titled “Abiding Journeys,” explores the remarkable power of music as it transports the heart and mind to new worlds. Taking place in the beautiful and historic Camden Public Library Amphitheatre, the Screen Door Festival promises the wonders of music and the magnificence of the Maine coast, serving to inspire, motivate and refresh listeners. Artists include the Calidore and Maxwell Quartets, Palaver Strings, Axiom Brass, Oshima Brothers and many others.

The season finale Sunday, Aug. 21, features a mixed program titled “Songs of Travel” with vocalists Kate Aldrich and Karim Suleyman. Aldrich, a Maine native, is a regular performer at the Metropolitan Opera. Several free concerts will be offered throughout the month of August, including Jazz on the Water at the Rockport Marine Park, a special children’s concert by Palaver Strings, concerts on the Camden Village Green and an appearance by cellist Joshua Roman at Zoot Coffee.
