Knox County saw six additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Saturday, July 2.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,786 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

There have been no additional hospitalizations or deaths in Knox County in four weeks.

Statewide an additional 208 cases were reported during the past day. There was one additional death reported statewide July 2, increasing the number to 2,419.

There were four additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,159 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 115 Mainers currently in the hospital. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 115 hospitalized, 19 are in critical care units and three on ventilators. Fifty-seven critical care beds are available in Maine.
