Knox County saw four additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, July 1.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,780 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus (This does not include results from at-home tests), 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

There have been no additional hospitalizations or deaths in Knox County in more than three weeks.

Statewide an additional 197 cases were reported during the past day. There were three additional deaths reported statewide July 1, increasing the number to 2,418.

There were seven additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,155 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 113 Mainers currently in the hospital. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 113 hospitalized, 18 are in critical care units and four on ventilators. Fifty-nine critical care beds are available in Maine
