Knox County saw 14 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday, June 23.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,737 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died. This does not include results from at-home tests.

Statewide an additional 430 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide June 23, keeping the number at 2,409.

There were five additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,111 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 115 Mainers currently in the hospital, down from 138 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 115 hospitalized, 17 are in critical care units and three on ventilators. Seventy-nine critical care beds are available in Maine
