Knox County saw three additional COVID-19 cases since Saturday, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday, June 22.

The case numbers are not updated on weekends or holidays.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,723 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died. This does not include results from at-home tests.

Statewide an additional 249 cases were reported since Saturday. There was one additional death reported statewide June 22, increasing the number to 2,409.

There were nine additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 since Saturday, with the number at 5,106 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 120 Mainers currently in the hospital, down from 138 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 120 hospitalized, 21 are in critical care units and four on ventilators. Seventy-two critical care beds are available in Maine
