Knox County saw nine additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Saturday, June 18.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,720 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died. This does not include results from at-home tests.

Statewide an additional 307 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide June 18, keeping the number at 2,408. This is the second consecutive day of no deaths in Maine.

There were four additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,097 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 138 Mainers currently in the hospital. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 138 hospitalized, 18 are in critical care units and four on ventilators. Sixty critical care beds are available in Maine
