Children and teens are invited to dive into a new book, drop in at a program, and explore the ocean right next door during the Youth Summer Reading Program at the Rockport Public Library. The Summer Reading Kickoff Party will take place at the Rockport Public Library and Memorial Park Friday, June 24 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. There will be an outdoor treasure hunt, craft stations, a live pirate battle with Pirates of the Dark Rose, and information about the summer reading program. This is an all-ages program. The treasure hunt is intended for youth ages 18 and under.

Participants in the Oceans of Possibilities Youth Summer Reading Program can complete any of the following challenges to get a free book and a chance to win a bigger prize.

30 Day Reading Challenge
This challenge is designed to encourage a daily reading habit. For participants too young to read independently, being read to will count towards this challenge. Read for 30 days during the Summer Reading Program and color in a bubble for each day in the Summer Reading tracker to receive a free book and a chance to win additional prizes at our End of Summer Reading Party.

Build-Your-Own Summer Challenge
Participants can use the Summer Reading tracker to create their own challenge and earn an extra chance to win prizes. Start a new hobby, participate in the programs, finish a book series…there’s an Ocean of Possibilities! When the challenge is completed, participants can fill out their contact info and drop off their tracker at the library.

Books for Bikes (4th-12th grade only)
