Knox County saw two additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday, June 16.

An additional Knox County resident was admitted to a hospital with the virus during the past day.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,707 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 91 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died. This does not include results from at-home tests.

Statewide an additional 249 cases were reported during the past day. There were two additional deaths reported statewide June 16, increasing the number to 2,408.

There were four additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,085 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 136 Mainers currently in the hospital. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 136 hospitalized, 18 are in critical care units and three on ventilators. Forty-four critical care beds are available in Maine.
