ROUND POND — Cameron Reny holds a wide lead in the Democratic primary race to represent state Senate District 13 which covers nearly all of Lincoln County, as well as the Knox County town of Washington and the Kennebec town of Windsor.

Reny will face off in the November general election against Republican Abden Simmons of Waldoboro. Simmons served one term in the Maine House before being defeated in 2018 by Independent Jeffrey Evangelos. Simmons was unopposed for the Republican nomination.

The seat is currently held by Democratic state Sen. Chloe Maxmin of Nobleboro, who did not seek re-election.

Reny is defeating fellow Democrat David Levesque of Newcastle, a lawyer with an office in Damariscotta, in primary voting from Tuesday, June 14.

Reny received 240 votes in Waldoboro compared to 120 for Levesque. In Bristol, Reny got 262 compared to 37 for Levesque. In Damariscotta, Reny received 217 votes compared to 51 for Levesque. Levesque received 119 votes in Wiscasset compared to 116 for Reny. Levesque received 42 votes in Washington compared to 37 for Reny.
