WARREN — At approximately 3:15 p.m. Saturday, June 11, Knox County Regional Communication Center received 911 calls reporting an accident at a residence on Atlantic Highway (Route 1) in Warren.
First responders arrived at the residence and found Harvey Staples, 69, of Warren, deceased, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The incident is still being investigated but preliminary information is that the death is accidental.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Staples was removing shrubs from various locations on his property with the assistance of another person in a pickup truck. Staples was struck by the pickup, as it was backing up, and he fell to the ground. The Sheriff’s Office is waiting on the final cause of death from the Medical Examiner’s Office to complete the report but preliminary information leads the department to believe that the cause was a head injury.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Waldoboro Emergency Medical Services, Waldoboro Police Department, and Hall Funeral Home.
