ROCKLAND — Rockland emergency crews responded late Saturday morning, June 11, to a head-on crash on Old County Road.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Talbot Avenue.

Rockland police said its investigation determined a black sedan operated by Steven Ward, 46, of Rockland, was traveling south on Old County Road when the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a white pickup truck being operated by Andrew Tyler, 29, of Appleton. The truck was also occupied by members of Tyler’s family.Occupants of the pickup were treated on scene for minor injuries. Ward was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for injuries sustained to his head as a result of not wearing his seatbelt. Police stated there was no evidence to indicate Ward was under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the accident but he was issued summonses for failing to maintain control of the vehicle and operating without wearing a seatbelt. Old County Road was temporarily closed between Talbot Ave and Limerock Street as a result of the accident and both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage.

Officer Michael Izzi investigated the crash.
