ROCKPORT — A veterinary clinic on Route 1 was heavily damaged Thursday afternoon, June 9, when a car crashed into the building.

Shortly before 2 p.m. the Rockport Police Department, Rockport Fire Department, and Northeast Mobile Health Services responded to 599 Commercial St. at PenBay Veterinary Associates for the report of a single-vehicle crash.

Police said Margery Webb, 87, of Camden, was driving a 2000 Toyota four-door sedan south on Route 1. Webb nearly missed the entrance to the Veterinary Clinic, over steered and struck the building, according to police.

Webb was treated and released by Northeast Ambulance at the scene. Webb’s vehicle is considered a total loss and there was substantial damage to the building.

Officer Celjeta Bixhaku of Rockport Police is investigating the crash.
