Knox County saw six additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday, June 9.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,678 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 89 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died. This does not include results from at-home tests. This is the second consecutive day that a Knox County resident has been admitted to a hospital with the virus.

Statewide an additional 329 cases were reported during the past day. There was one additional death reported statewide June 9, increasing the number to 2,401.

There were two additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 5,051 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 139 Mainers currently in the hospital, down from 183 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 139 hospitalized, 19 are in critical care units and five on ventilators. Seventy-six critical care beds are available in Maine.
