Knox County saw 15 additional COVID-19 cases since Saturday, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Tuesday, June 7.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,667 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 87 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died. This does not include results from at-home tests. There have been no additional hospitalizations or deaths reported in nearly two weeks in Knox County.

Statewide an additional 557 cases were reported since Saturday. There were 18 additional deaths reported statewide June 7, increasing the number to 2,400.

There were 20 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 since Saturday, with the number at 5,032 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 160 Mainers currently in the hospital, down from 183 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 160 hospitalized, 20 are in critical care units and seven on ventilators. Seventy critical care beds are available in Maine.
