Knox County saw 13 additional COVID-19 cases since Saturday, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday, June 1.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,624 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 87 have been admitted to hospitals, and 40 have died.

Statewide an additional 867 cases were reported since Saturday. There were no additional deaths reported statewide June 1, keeping the number at 2,346.

There were 24 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 since Saturday, with the number at 4,975 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 186 Mainers currently in the hospital, up from 167 last week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 186 hospitalized, 25 are in critical care units and three on ventilators. Sixty-one critical care beds are available in Maine.
