Knox County saw 24 additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, May 6.

And another Knox County resident died from the virus and another was admitted to a hospital.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,315 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 84 have been admitted to hospitals, and 37 have died.

Statewide an additional 930 cases were reported during the past day. There were 12 additional deaths reported statewide May 6, increasing that number to 2,316.

There were 15 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, with the number at 4,794 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 193 Mainers currently in the hospital. This is a jump of nearly 100 in the past four weeks and the highest level since the end of February. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 193 hospitalized, 33 are in critical care units and three on ventilators. Sixty-six critical care beds are available in Maine.
