CAMDEN — The Select Board is likely to approve plans for a paid parking program on the public landing this summer that will be the test, not only to see what works there, but for the rest of the town.

Select Board Chair Bob Falciani said the plan is to put in a kiosk where the visitor takes a ticket and puts it in their windshield while parked at the landing. The cost is likely to be a small amount per hour.

This will prevent the parking officer from having to mark tires and make it easier to enforce parking rules.

If this plan works well, it may be utilized for other parts of the town.

He said the kiosk or distribution device will be something small, automated that is mounted on a pole.

The plan will likely go into effect in July.
