ROCKLAND — Rockland police are asking the public if anyone has a video of a driver who fled the scene, at a high rate of speed, from a traffic stop.

On Tuesday, April 26, Rockland Police charged 19-year-old Brendan Boutin, of Frankfort, with criminal failure to stop and several civil traffic violations.

The charges stem from an incident on Thursday, April 21, when Rockland Police attempted to stop a vehicle for minor traffic violations. The operator (Boutin) fled the stop at a high rate of speed, according to police. Due to Boutin’s reckless operation, the minor violation for which officers were attempting to stop Boutin and the fact he was known to law enforcement, the officer did not pursue Boutin, police said.

Boutin is expected to make his initial court appearance on the charges early next month and more criminal charges are expected.

The incident took place on parts of Highland Street, Limerock Street, Oliver Street and Park Street.

Rockland Police said it has reason to believe there is at least one video of the incident captured by a citizen. If you or anyone you know have video of the incident, the department asks you to contact Detective Sgt. Alex Gaylor at AGAYLOR@Rocklandmaine.Gov or at (207) 594-0316 extension 253.
