Knox County saw four additional COVID-19 cases during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, April 1.

There have been no additional Knox County residents admitted to a hospital in the past 23 days due to the virus.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 5,911 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 80 have been admitted to hospitals, and 33 have died.

Statewide, an additional 256 cases were reported during the past day. There were no additional deaths reported statewide April 1, keeping that number at 2,202.

There were seven additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, increasing the number at 4,564 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 97 Mainers currently in the hospital, down from a record high of 436 in early January. Of the 97 hospitalized, 16 are in critical care units and four on ventilators. Seventy critical care beds are available in Maine.
