CAMDEN — Botanist Alicyn Smart will lead an online webinar on common plant diseases and management hosted by Merryspring Nature Center Tuesday, April 12 at noon. Smart will speak about the University of Maine Plant Diagnostic lab, which serves as an essential resource for identifying diseases on plant samples from the green industry, farmers, and homeowners. The lab currently serves as the Northeast Plant Diagnostic Network Regional Center, which comprises 12 labs across the northeast. Smart’s research aims to reduce losses to plant diseases and minimize disease management costs by providing early and accurate disease identification.
