THOMASTON — Calling brave men, women and children — especially middle school students… Henry Knox wants you to join him on stage!

A brand new musical is finally coming to Midcoast Maine this summer! Watts Hall Community Players had planned to present “Count Me In,” a musical about local Revolutionary War hero General Henry Knox, as its summer production back in 2020, and is excited to finally be bringing it to the stage. The show will be performed in historic Watts Hall, 174 Main St., on the last weekend in June and the first weekend in July.

“Count Me In” is very much an ensemble show with only a small number of leading roles, but the play requires a large, multi-age cast full of lively characters — past and present. A classroom of middle school students plays a prominent role throughout the play with speaking and singing parts.  If you, your children, grandchildren or neighbors have always wanted to be onstage or help backstage, this is a wonderful opportunity to work with community theater and share Henry Knox’s story. Help make it happen this summer… because Henry and Lucy are ready to sing!

For those interested in performing one of three leads (Thomas Jefferson, George Washington or a modern day teacher), auditions will be Friday, April 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 2, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Watts Hall. Rehearsals will also be held in Watts Hall and begin in early May. Recognizing that school is still in session, times will be set to accommodate the schedules of the cast.
